Objectives

Overcoming the main technical obstacles preventing Guinea-Bissau from implementing a National Monitoring and Reporting System (NFMS) and completing the preliminary stages of its climate change mitigation and development strategy (namely through REDD+ and NAMAs programs). The work carried out contributed to addressing two specific challenges:

To promote the ongoing activities of the REDD+ Working Group (RWG), supporting technical training workshops and/or facilitating dialogue between the various stakeholders involved.

Collaborate with national stakeholders, the RWG, and FAO consultants in designing an inter-institutional architecture for the NFMS.

The work carried out contributed to addressing two specific challenges:

GIS Workshops | 2016 IBAP and FAO Headquarters in Bissau
During the first workshop, trainees had their first contact with technologies and methodologies for the production, interpretation, and manipulation of thematic cartography, namely with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Agroecological Zoning (AEZ) technologies. In the second workshop, the training included the analysis of forest inventory data and remote sensing methodologies for forest monitoring.
